Bentoswell Expanding Concrete Joint Waterstop
OCM Bentoswell is a flexible concrete construction water swelling strip that expands upon contact with moisture, creating a positive seal in concrete joints.
Made from a special blend of butyl rubber polymers and bentonite clay, it provides superior expansion characteristics and replaces passive PVC dumbbell water stops, eliminating the need for seam welding and split forming.
Key Features
- Provides permanently flexible, watertight joints
- Quick and easy to install without requiring skilled labor
- Excellent adhesion to clean, dry surfaces when used with Bentoswell Primer
- Sealed joints will not shrink, harden, or oxidize over time
- Cost-effective and reliable sealing solution for cast-in-place concrete joints
Limitations
- Bentoswell is not self-adhering and requires Bentoswell Primer for proper adhesion
- A minimum of 3ā (75mm) of concrete coverage is required to prevent premature expansion
- Should not be exposed to water before concrete is poured
- For use in contaminated groundwater, contact an OCM representative for compatibility information
Specifications
- Specific Gravity (ASTM D71): 1.60
- Hardness (ASTM D217): 75 dim
- Solids Content (ASTM C681): 100%
- Unrestricted Swell: 300%
- Hydrostatic Head Resistance: 231 ft (70m)
Applications
- Cast-in-place applications
- Slabs-on-grade foundations
- Storage tanks and utility vaults
- Pipe penetrations and tunnels
- Box culverts and retaining walls
- Concrete and burial vaults
- Septic tanks
Installation Instructions
- Clean the surface to remove dirt and loose particles.
- Apply Bentoswell Primer in a 1/4ā minimum thickness using a brush or trowel.
